Welcome back all for this, the last part of our Villains of Buffy series. To draw this all to a close we take a look at season 7 and the last of the foes our young slayer must face.
After the grief of season 6 many fans were left to wonder how could the series get any sadder but by the end of season 7 we were only left reaching for the tissues once again. Throughout this season Buffy and her friends must face an adversary older than any they have faced before, The First. The First Evil. In conjunction with an evil priest named Caleb, the two are by far the toughest baddies our young hero has ever had to face. With the ability to take the form of anyone who is dead or who has died, including that of the slayer herself, the interactions with The First are truly disturbing.
Culminating in a battle, the likes of which we had never seen on Buffy, it is only with a truly divine move on behalf of the Slayer and her gang that this greatest of all foes eventually defeated but not without its cost. Costs that include reducing the town to giant crater and the death of both fan favourites Anya and our Blonde vampire, Spike. This season brought the series to close and divided fans on the ending so much so much so that in combination with the influence it had on so many people it was later continued as a comic book series and thus continued to live on.
That's all folks for this series of The Breakdown, stay posted for our next series, The Ultimate Anti-Hero in Modern Film.
